[Player/Coach Comments]

In the final match of this season, in order to respond to a year's worth of support,

The 34th round will be held as the final match of the season, welcoming Yokohama F. Marinos at home, Ajinomoto Stadium. In the previous round, they struggled against Kofu and ended up with a draw. Despite this, coach Massimo emphasizes the importance of young players trying with courage and growing through playing. However, looking towards this round, he also shows a determination to win and end the season on a good note, saying "We want to play a good game and win by any means necessary to respond to the support of our fans and supporters throughout the year."

Yokohama, on the other hand, is currently in 7th place with 7 points. Although they were in the title race until the final match of last season, their lack of goals has been a hindrance this season, leaving them with only 50 points. However, their total number of goals conceded is the lowest in the league at 28. Tokyo has also conceded 32 goals so far, and there is a possibility that this could be their lowest number of goals conceded in history (in the single league system, the lowest was 39 goals in 2009). With just "one goal" potentially deciding the outcome, concentration and "precision will be required (Tokunaga)".

However, due to Muto's poor physical condition, he will start on the bench. Manager Massimo stated, "There are no other players with the same characteristics as Muto, so we need to build up in a different way than before." This week, Kajiyama will be used as a defensive midfielder. Takahashi, who has finished his suspension, will play as a double defensive midfielder with Yonemoto and Higashi on the wings. Up front, Edu will start for the first time in two games. Kono and the two forwards will play in a 4-4-2 formation. Additionally, Ishikawa has made the team for the first time since August 23rd.

Despite the harsh cold and occasional light rain, Ajinomoto Stadium was completely clear just before the start. The match, which we want to use to build on what we have built up over the past year and carry over to next season, kicked off in Tokyo at 3:34 pm.

In the back and forth battle, Takahashi scores the opening goal from Ota's corner kick!

Tokyo, who showed an aggressive attitude from the start. In the 2nd minute, Tokunaga sent a pass forward and Kawano connected it with a heel, while Yonemoto on the right side boldly took a shot while moving up. However, it was blocked by the top left bar. In the 5th minute, Yokohama changed sides from MF Saito in the left area and right side back Kobayashi overlapped and took a middle shot. In the following 6 minutes, from the delicate passing work in the front line, Kawano attempted to break through the center with a dribble. In addition, in the 12th minute, Kawano received a foul and earned a free kick from just left of the penalty arc. Ota aimed for it, but it was blocked by the wall of defenders. Yokohama also took the ball with a tough press, and attacked in a coordinated manner, but the game was back and forth.

After 15 minutes, Yokohama gradually launched a strong attack and created chances. In the 16th minute, MF Fujimoto broke through on the right side. MF Saito tried to pass here, but it slipped slightly from his feet. In the 20th minute, Yokohama counterattacked after cutting off a pass mistake in the midfield. MF Sato ran all the way to the left side and aimed for a shot, but it went wide to the right. Tokyo also responded without losing focus and launched a counterattack. They pushed up the line and compacted their formation, but their coordination and accuracy in the front line were lacking. In the 21st minute, Tokunaga advanced and created an opportunity on the right side, and Kono in the center aimed for a shot, but it was cleared by DF Kurihara's header.

At 25 minutes, Edu from the right area made a last pass in front of the goal. Kono received it, tried to change his body direction and aim for a shot, but couldn't shoot due to the marking of the opposing DF. He reacted to the loose ball, but it hit DF Nakazawa and was caught by the GK. At 35 minutes, Yokohama had a chance to score. Right MF Sato made a vertical pass to the front line. MF Saito entered the area to match it. Morishige tried to close in, while Gonda tried to hold it down and jump out in front, but he shot just before the timing and the ball headed towards the unguarded goal, but narrowly missed to the left, avoiding a goal against.

Both teams missed chances and in the 41st minute, Morishige cut off a ball in his own half and fed it to Yonemoto on the front line. Edu made a run and dribbled from behind, facing a 1-on-1 with the opponent's DF, trying to bring the ball into the area, but was slightly late and couldn't shoot. From there, Kono on the right side made a run and passed to Edu in the center. Kajiyama, who had advanced, aimed for a shot. They showed a coordinated play, but... the shot was blocked by the GK and they only got a corner kick. However, Ota took the right corner kick and Takahashi jumped in near the goal with a header! They took advantage of the set piece opportunity and took the lead, leading by one goal as they headed into the second half.

Unable to secure a win in the last 5 matches due to conceding a goal.

In the second half, Yokohama took control of the pace with their quick passing. In the 54th minute, Yokohama substituted MF Nakamura for MF Sato. Tokyo also made a substitution in the 55th minute, with Muto coming in for Kawano. In the 57th minute, Yokohama intercepted Tokyo's slow attack in their own half and quickly moved forward, with Muto dribbling down the left side. However, Yokohama's DF Kobayashi made a sliding tackle and the ball went out for a corner kick. In the 58th minute, Ota took the corner kick from the left side and Morishige headed the ball towards the center, hitting the crossbar and bouncing down... Morishige attempted another shot from the rebound, but this time it was blocked by the goalkeeper.

Yokohama launches a counterattack from here. They pass the ball in their own half, and MF Nakamura sends a vertical pass to MF Hattori who spreads it to the left. Left fullback Narawa breaks through to a high position and crosses the ball on the ground in front of the goal. MF Saito runs in near the ball but it goes through and flows to the center, where FW Ito scores a goal... Yokohama couldn't stop the accelerated attack from their front line and conceded a goal, equalizing the score.

66 minutes, Hanyu was substituted for Kajiyama and entered the right side. We tried to recover and attacked from the side, but there were also moments where we lost the ball against Yokohama's tough defense. In the 73rd minute, we launched a quick attack and Muto dribbled up the right side, passing to Hanyu on the outside. Hanyu carried the ball forward and crossed it, but the ball had too much momentum and went over the line. In the 74th minute, we won the ball in our own half and Ota skillfully avoided the press and passed to Muto in the center. However, Muto's pass to the front line was too long and went over Edu's head.

77 minutes, Yokohama DF Kuribara receives his second warning and is sent off. Immediately after, Tokyo substitutes Edu for Watanabe. Using their third substitution, they go for an additional goal. However, Yokohama also shows determination with intense defense. In the 41st minute, in the midst of a fierce battle for the ball, Higashi is fouled and earns a free kick. From Ota's kick from the left side, Yoshimoto tries to head it in from the area but fails to make a clean hit. In additional time, they quickly restart from their own zone and from a throw-in, Ota dribbles up the center and Hanyu, who has moved up the right side, takes a shot from the right side of the penalty arc but... it curves to the left.

After that, Nakawaki's shot from the counter was blocked, but he connected with the loose ball and won a corner kick. However, Yoshimoto's attempt to push the ball in from the right corner kick went wide. Then Ota entered the area. The pass to the center was deflected by the opponent's defender, and Hayashi followed up with a direct shot, but it went over the bar... In the final minutes, we attacked Yokohama, who were down to 10 men, but we couldn't capitalize on our chances and ended up with a draw. In the last five games, we were unable to win and finished 9th in the J1 league this season with 48 points.

[Player Comments]
《Morishige》
"I want to express my gratitude for everyone's support throughout the year. Personally, I had a very good year as a professional. However, as a team, we were unable to produce results and I feel ashamed and sorry for that. As captain, I wanted to achieve better results. I want to use this frustration to contribute to the team next season and do my best."

"Takahashi"
"In the end of the season, our performance was not good and we wanted to win today to end it beautifully, but unfortunately we couldn't achieve that and I feel sorry. However, today we played with a double pivot and were able to create more attacking options, and also showed that we can control the opponent's fullbacks by having our wingers help in defense. There are still areas to improve, but I want to work hard and use this as a stepping stone for further growth. In Tokyo, there are many players who are tough on themselves and push themselves in training and games. I want our team to become one that demands high standards from ourselves and others. I also want to become that kind of player."

[Press Conference Summary by Massimo FICCADENTI]
"There were some issues with Muto's physical condition, so we had to change the formation. But considering it was a last-minute decision, I think the players adapted well and fought well. The first half was not bad at all. We were able to put pressure on the opponent aggressively from the front line. Both teams had chances. In the second half, as has been the case recently, we couldn't get into our rhythm and the opponent took advantage of one chance to equalize. After that, we created many chances but couldn't score. We have to accept this result, but it's really disappointing."

However, I would like to express my gratitude for the performance of each player this season. In the 14 games after the break, we have not lost a single game, with the 5th lowest number of goals conceded and the 6th highest number of goals scored in the league. This data shows that we should be in a higher position. In order to achieve that, we need more goals that can determine our victory in closely contested matches.

However, we were able to build the foundation of the team and there were also young players who made their J-League debut. In addition to Morishige and Gonda, who were already part of the Japan national team, Ota and Muto have also been selected. In that sense, I feel that the players developed by Tokyo will become the future of the team. Today, four players from the youth team also took to the pitch.

From now on, I have a feeling that if we continue in the right direction, we can become a team that can compete with the top teams. Also, what I have felt since coming to Japan is that in the J-League, you never know what will happen until the very end, and anything can happen. Negative situations can also occur, so I feel that it is necessary to always stay focused."

[Yokohama F.Marinos Manager Yasuhiro HIGUCHI's Press Conference Summary]
"We analyzed that Tokyo would come in with a 4-3-3 formation, but in reality they started with a 4-4-2 which initially confused us. Our defensive theme was how to contain Tokyo's fast attacks, and since they tend to shift towards the ball side, it was also important to move the ball wide. It ended up being an open game with back and forth action, which played to Tokyo's advantage. It was a difficult game for us to take control of."

However, in the end, we only conceded one goal from a set piece. I think we were able to demonstrate the low number of goals conceded this season. In the end, DF Kurihara was sent off, which added tension to the team. Although we ended in a draw, I want to reflect on the fact that we were able to accumulate at least 1 point and finish the season without being overtaken in the rankings with the players.

Today, we had a full house in the away area and I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all the fans and supporters who have supported us throughout this past year, regardless of whether we were playing at home or away. Although I will be leaving today, I would like to thank the fans, supporters, club staff, and sponsors who have supported the team for the past 3 years. Thank you very much."
