[Player and Coach Comments]
Masato MORISHIGE
(It was a shutout victory. Reflecting on the match)
"I am happy to have achieved a victory. There were long periods of patience throughout the 90 minutes, but we all talked about set pieces being an opportunity.
I think we were able to fight ideally because we scored two points there.
(Reflecting on the scoring scene)
"From training, Ota has been providing good balls. Set pieces are one of our strengths, and being able to score from a set piece during a tough stretch of consecutive matches is very significant."
(I felt that the risk management during the attack was excellent)
"I never want to give the opponent any openings. I think I was able to maintain balance while fighting, always communicating with the defenders and the holding midfielders."
(Towards the next match against Sapporo)
"I want to prepare well and build up from training so that the whole team can fight together."
Kento HASHIMOTO
(The result was 2-0. Reflecting on the match)
"Since it was the 'Tamagawa Classico', many fans and supporters came out. I am happy that we were able to win in front of them, and I think it was great that we could share the joy."
(I scored my first goal of the season. Reflecting on the scoring moment)
"Regarding today's match, the coach gave us detailed instructions about set plays. I think my heightened awareness to aim for goals more than usual contributed to the opening goal, and I’m glad I was able to score from a wonderful ball from Ota."
(The consecutive matches continue. Towards the next game)
"I want us to continue winning as a united team. We still have the Levain Cup, and I want to prepare well for the next match."
Summary of the press conference by Kenta HASEGAWA, Tokyo's coach
"I was glad to show Tokyo's victory in front of many fans and supporters. It was the last of five consecutive league matches, but I think the players really fought with their hearts. Kensuke NAGAI mentioned halfway through, 'I feel like I'm cramping,' but I told him to keep going until he cramps up (laughs).
I told the players, 'Fight until it becomes a 'yes' today,' and I think everyone fought with that spirit as they should have.
In the first half, we struggled to connect after winning the ball, but in the second half, the opponent's energy dropped, allowing us to launch quick attacks in a very good shape after regaining possession, and we were able to create a lot of our own time. I believe we fought well in the second half.
In that context, there were quite a few set plays in the last match against Kobe, but we couldn't convert them. I had been telling the players that set plays are very important in crucial matches like a 'Clasico', so I think they focused and managed to score today. The consecutive matches will continue, but we want to do our best together to get through the next four matches before the break.
Q&A
Both goals came from set pieces, but how did you prepare against the opponent's defense aside from concentration?
"We used Kosuke OTA. (laugh)
While it is said that 80% is about the accuracy of kicks, it’s not that the previous matches were bad, but there were areas where the accuracy was lacking. I knew that 6 out of the 9 goals conceded by Kawasaki were from set pieces, and especially since (today's Kawasaki) had shuffled their lineup quite a bit, I thought there wouldn’t be enough time to prepare for set pieces. I believe we scored in a very good way."
You mentioned that you would use player Nagai until he cramps up, but with that running style, I think lasting 60 minutes would be a long time for the team. As a coach, do you think he could go further, or do you think it was wonderful that he ran that much?
"That's right. Since we scored the second goal, I thought it was good. I was thinking of substituting him (laughs)
If it had remained 1-0, I think I would have used him until he cramped up at the end. However, Kensuke, despite having tight legs, told me, 'I'll go.' The players behind him also sent some difficult balls that only Kensuke could catch up to, and he ran hard without complaining. I believe that without his effort today, we wouldn't have been able to push back in the second half like that. In my opinion, NAGAI is the MVP."
Summary of the Press Conference by Kawasaki Coach Toru ONIKI
"First of all, I apologize that we couldn't win despite the supporters creating a great atmosphere, and I feel our lack of ability."
We were caught off guard despite understanding the opponent's intentions regarding set plays and counterattacks.
There is reflection there, and another aspect that needs attention is the offensive part. I think it comes down to the fact that we couldn't break down the opponent.
Q&A
Q=You mentioned that you were aware of the set play but still got scored on. It seemed like the goals conceded in both the first and second halves were exactly the same.
"It's a bit different from being relaxed, but we have our own way of doing things, and we weren't able to do that properly. I think it's a problem to let them get in so easily."
