《Tokyo U-23 - Summary of the Press Conference by Coach Tetsu NAGASAWA》
I always feel this when we play at AJINOMOTO FIELD NISHIGAOKA, and I am grateful that this place allows our fans and supporters to 'make us run.'
Today's game was a battle until the end, but it highlighted our immaturity in not being able to finish at the crucial moments. Regarding the game's content, I believe the difference between the first and second halves was in the transitions. When we rested after winning the ball, we were quickly dispossessed again, leading to repeated waves of attacks and conceding goals. In the second half, we corrected the mistakes as a team and approached the match with a renewed mindset. After winning the ball, the players' faces were lifted, and the reactions of those around them became quicker. I think that regardless of the system or how we match up against our opponents, having solid situational judgment and mentality in any situation greatly impacts the game. In that sense, the second half was one where we were able to find gaps in the opponent's defense and advance the ball.
The match became a back-and-forth in the final stages, but I believe it comes down to whether we win or lose. Coach Kenta HASEGAWA has consistently said, "We will never go into defense," and I want to continue this approach moving forward. Today's team average age is 19 years. There are still areas where we are inexperienced, but even with players registered as dual players, regardless of who is on the field, we all work together to win the ball. I feel that we have been able to share the style of football that Coach HASEGAWA envisions.
Finally, today at Kataller Toyama, Teppei USUI and Yoji SASAKI, who are both from the academy, were doing their best. Both of them are part of our Tokyo family, so we would be happy if you could support their future activities.
