We would like to inform you that our club's U-23 team's withdrawal from the 2020 Meiji Yasuda J3 League has been approved by the J.League Board of Directors.
Reason for Declining Participation
・Difficulty securing stadiums
The number of available stadiums for J3 League matches in Tokyo is limited. While sports activities are expected to resume in the future due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, there are various factors such as the Olympics and Paralympics, as well as the fact that J-League stadiums were unable to host matches for approximately four months, which will result in a large number of matches being played in a short period of time. Additionally, with other organizations such as Nadeshiko, amateur, university, and high school soccer also having concentrated schedules, it is expected that there will be a shortage of available stadiums.
In Tokyo, we use Ajinomoto Field Nishigaoka, Komazawa Olympic Park Stadium, and Yumenoshima Stadium for our games. However, it is expected that it will become very difficult to secure stadiums due to the overlap of schedules with other sports organizations and the impact of the Olympics and Paralympics.
□Naoki Oogane, Representative Director and President's Comment
"From the 2016 season, we have participated in the J3 League with the aim of developing a training-oriented club and promoting bottom-up growth by forming a U-23 team. Although this season was the final year, we have decided to withdraw due to the above reasons. With the various changes in schedules due to the impact of the new coronavirus infection, it has become difficult to secure stadiums, and we are disappointed to make this decision. We will continue to move forward as a training-oriented club without stopping. We apologize from the bottom of our hearts for the inconvenience caused to the J3 clubs and everyone involved by withdrawing at this timing."
Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to all the J.League officials and the officials of each J3 club who have accepted our participation in J3 for the past four years.
