□What is the FLOAT app
The impact of COVID-19 requires a different approach to on-site activities in groups. The app "FLOAT" that we have created aims to raise awareness of the term "River Litter" among as many people as possible. The current version models four rivers around the world, including the Arakawa. Within the app, a large amount of river litter that has accumulated on the riverbed, as well as floating artificial debris, continuously flows in. Efficiently collecting these will reveal the unique fish species of that river. Additionally, we have established a system to generate activity funds from users watching video ads and making in-app purchases, allowing us to collect litter from actual rivers (initially focusing on the Arakawa) and visualize the results. The outcomes will be reported on a dedicated website.

□About NPO Arakawa Clean Aid Forum
Facing the issue of river/ocean waste and aiming for a society that lives in harmony with nature, the Arakawa Clean Aid Forum (Edogawa Ward, Tokyo, Contact: Director/ Kazushi Imamura, hereafter referred to as Arakawa Clean Aid Forum)
The Arakawa Clean Aid Forum has been creating exchanges among people who gather around the Arakawa River while picking up and investigating the waste in the river, contributing to the restoration of the natural environment. Activities began in 1994, and over the past 27 years, more than 240,000 participants have joined, increasing interest in the river. This achievement was recognized, and in 2019, it received the Grand Prize at the Zero Marine Waste Award.
