□About "Easy Japanese" in Tokyo
"Easy Japanese" is a term for simplified Japanese that is considerate of foreigners and others who may not be familiar with the language. In Tokyo, the number of foreign residents is increasing and currently stands at about 580,000 (as of January 2023), with a diverse range of nationalities. In order to achieve a multicultural society where Japanese and foreigners can live and thrive together in their communities, it is important to use "Easy Japanese" as a means of communication, bridging the gap between each other. Furthermore, "Easy Japanese" is not only effective for communication with foreigners, but also as a useful tool for communication with children, elderly, and people with disabilities. It is being implemented in various fields such as administrative information, daily life information, and news dissemination.
