□ "Health Heart Day"
Circulatory diseases, represented by stroke and heart disease, are known to be the second leading cause of death among Japanese people, following cancer. However, in terms of medical expenses, they are the top cause, and in terms of the cause of caregiving, they are also the top cause, making them a significant social issue. On the other hand, unlike cancer, prevention is highly effective through proper education. Therefore, the Basic Law for Measures against Circulatory Diseases, which was enacted in 2019, aims to promote prevention and awareness among the public. The Japan Heart Foundation designated August 10th (Heart Day) as "Health Heart Day" in 1985 and has been holding events to promote prevention of heart disease around August 10th every year. Starting in 2021, the Japan Circulation Society, the Japanese Circulation Association, and the Japan Heart Foundation, and starting in 2023, the Japan AED Foundation, have joined forces, and the Health Heart Day Executive Committee has been established to further promote awareness and prevention.
