Interview with Yuta ARAI

Q, I joined the team for the first time in a J-League official match. How did you feel when you found out you were on the team?
I didn't expect to be chosen as a member, but I always prepared myself to be ready to play whenever I was selected.

Q, How did you feel about the different atmosphere compared to high school, such as greeting fans and supporters during the team bus entrance and warm-up?
Since I was young, I watched it on TV and the J-League stage was both a dream and a source of tension for me.

Q, When were you informed about the substitution?
A, at the end of the first half, while the substitute members were on the pitch kicking the ball, I was told "Yuta, we're going in the second half!" At that moment, I was surprised because I didn't expect to be called in so early.

Q, when entering the pitch from the touchline during substitutions, it looked like they were doing it confidently.
A, I am often told by various people that I am confident, but I do not think so myself. Even when I enter the pitch, I am of course nervous.

Q, when you came out of the locker room and headed towards the pitch, what did Ryoya OGAWA say to you?
From player Ogawa, I was told, "Don't be nervous and keep attacking." From coach Albert Puig Ortoneda, I was also told, "Stay on the side and when the ball comes, have the courage to keep attacking." So I played with that in mind.

Q, What did you feel after playing for 45 minutes on the pitch?
A, I felt that the speed, accuracy, and quality of passes were different from high school.

Q, how was the feeling?
A, I thought it was meaningless if I didn't use my dribbling and chance-making skills, which are my strengths, in situations where there were a lot of passes. So I played with the idea of taking courage and making moves.

Q: What kind of play do you want to show when you next play?
When the opportunity to play comes, I want to make plays that contribute to the team's victory. I will do my best to contribute to FC Tokyo's victory.
