Player Nagatomo's Comment

This is my fifth time being selected, but I have never been this nervous before.
It may be a common sentiment, but I truly feel a deep sense of gratitude for being selected. This includes my family, my FC Tokyo teammates, the staff, and of course the voices of the fans and supporters. Without everyone's support, I wouldn't have been able to come this far. I can only feel thankful. I really want to say "Thank you" to everyone.

To all FC Tokyo fans and supporters, I have been selected as a member of the Japan national team to participate in the FIFA World Cup 2026™. It has been about five years since I returned to FC Tokyo in the 2021 season, and although there have been many challenges and difficult times, I have truly been supported by everyone's voices and cheers, which has allowed me to come this far.

This fifth World Cup was a very big dream and goal, but I believe I would not have been selected if it were not for all of you and FC Tokyo. I am filled with gratitude. Thank you very much.

Tomorrow's match against Urawa Reds is a very important game for the team. Since there is still a chance to win the championship, we absolutely want to win it together and go to the Club World Cup. Let's do our best!
